Welcome 2015, Welcome Back Blogging

Hi everyone,

I know, I could not write anything for a long time. This year I am a senior student and playing my last game at my collage. During this process, I felt really exhausted because of my senior project, 7 courses’ homework, individual and team projects and of course exams. I could not remember which time I was powerful and healthy, I guess every time I was sick and tired this semester. (more…)

Summary of Valentine’s Day…

valentines-day-comment-031Hello everyone,

Yesterday was February 14 called Valentine’s Day which celebrated from couples all around the world. I wanted to post something about this speacial day but I was really tired because of studying for certificate exam. Now I have time to write summary of Valentine’s Day.

Everybody knows that the story of Valentine’s Day but let’s remember once again!

The story of Valentine’s Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was Claudius II Gothicus. The Christian was Valentinus.

Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship state religion’s idols, and he had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ, and not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.

During the last weeks of Valentinus’s life a remarkable thing happened. One day a jailer for the Emperor of Rome knocked at Valentinus’s door clutching his blind daughter in his arms. He had learned of Valentinus’s medical and spiritual healing abilities, and appealed to Valentinus to treat his daughter’s blindness. She had been blind since birth. Valentinus knew that her condition would be difficult to treat but he gave the man his word he would do his best. The little girl was examined, given an ointment for her eyes and a series of re-visits were scheduled.

Then one day, Valentinus received a visit from Roman soldiers who arrested him, destroyed his medicines and admonished him for his religious beliefs. When the little girl’s father learned of his arrest and imprisonment, he wanted to intervene but there was nothing he could do.

On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia – knowing his execution was imminent. Valentinus asked the jailer for a paper, pen and ink. He quickly jotted a farewell note and handed it to the jailer to give to his blind daughter. He urged her to stay close to GOD, and he signed it “From Your Valentine.” His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory.

When the jailer went home, he was greeted by his little girl. The little girl opened the note and discovered a yellow crocus inside. The message said, “From your Valentine.” As the little girl looked down upon the crocus that spilled into her palm she saw brilliant colors for the first time in her life! The girl’s eyesight was restored! A miracle!

He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia herself planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave. Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. In 496 Pope Gelasius I named February 14 as Saint Valentine’s Day. On each Valentine’s Day, messages of affection, love and devotion are still exchanged around the world.

According to remember this story, we can look at 21th century’s Valentine’s Day.

Earth Hour 2012: Saturday 31th March, 8:30pm

What is the Earth Hour?

This is a worldwide event that is organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is held on the last Saturday of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. (°˛°   )

What is the climate change?

Climate change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. It may be a change in average weather conditions or the distribution of events around that average (e.g., more or fewer extreme weather events). Climate change may be limited to a specific region or may occur across the whole Earth.

How can I know my Earth Hour?

You should enter the Earth Hour Official Website and follow the steps.

Find your country. ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

Choose it on the map. ( ̄。 ̄ノ)ノ

HERE is the Turkish website for the Earth Hour! It mentions about a surprise from the stars, when it gets dark. It only works in the dark, so visit this website at dark if you wonder the surprise. (「゚ ヮ゚)「

What will I do during the Earth Hour?

When the time is 8.30pm in your country, switch off all lights around you for 60 min. This is enough to send a powerful message for action on climate change.

The Earth is our home and everybody knows that there is nowhere to live. So, we should protect our home. Global warming is now the greatest threat we have ever faced. But we can make a difference if we act TOGETHER. <–(˘ ⌣ ˘)–><–(˘ ⌣ ˘)–><–(˘ ⌣ ˘)–>

Join Earth Hour. Switch off your lights for 60minutes on 31 March and stop global warming before it’s too late.

Happy Pi Day!

Pi Day is a holiday commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (or 3/14 in month/day date format), since 3, 1 and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.

Hey everyone,

Today was really beautiful day for me because I and my friends visited our class friend, Ayşenur & her newborn babygirl who name is Zehra. \(^O^)/ She is so little and beautiful I have seen ever! Ayşenur is older than us and this is her first time to have a baby. Of course, this was my first time to visit of newborn baby, too. So, I was really excited. In our tradition, when there is a newborn baby, parents serve “lohusa şerbeti”, a plate of pies and baby candies. So, I drank lohusa şerbeti first. ~(˘⌣˘)~
